Discussed with marketing director Anna Sokolowski
Anna discusses the story behind LympheDIVAs’ innovative compression garments made not only for the lymphedema, but for the lymphedema patient.
In 2006, Robin Miller (23) and Rachel Troxell (36) were finishing their breast cancer treatment when they had found out that they have developed lymphedema. Their therapist prescribed a medical graduated compression sleeve to manage the chronic swelling. When they went to pick out their sleeves, they saw that the only options available were rough, heavy, and hot. The sleeves came in one color: medical beige, that universal skin tone that is supposed to match everyone but matches no one at all.
Frustrated and dismayed over the lack of options, Robin and Rachel set out on a mission to create a more elegant and comfortable compression garment. They started LympheDIVAs as a way to develop medical compression garments they’d actually want to wear.

The LympheDIVAs difference
LympheDIVAs focused on something the existing product options seemed to have forgotten: the actual patients that wear the garments. As a triathlete, Rachel knew that sports compression garments felt great and came in all sorts of colors and styles. So, why were medical compression garments so uncomfortable and unsightly? Rachel and Robin, through a small-business incubator program at Drexel University, paired with a fashion designer to create compression garments that were moisture-wicking, breathable, lightweight and came in colors other than beige.
LympheDIVAs was the first brand to offer an alternative skin tone color and the first to provide an everyday black option as well. Focusing on the patient, LympheDIVAs didn’t stop there. Next, LympheDIVAs added more solid color garments and eventually patterns. Due to their innovation, other companies followed and now offer garments in additional color options.
When LympheDIVAs’ first President, Rachel Troxell, found out that other brands were adding additional color options and finally focusing on the patients they serve, she was overjoyed. She felt like competition in the industry (competing to help patients live better, more comfortable, and fulfilling lives) was why LympheDIVAs came to be.

As a disruptor in the industry, LympheDIVAs continues to focus on the patient and innovate their existing offerings, hoping to add additional garment options in the future.
